The Girl-Child Is Not Safe, The Girl-Child Is In Danger, We Need To Protect Them Now!!
Defilement has been happening since time in memorial and it is sickening to imagine that grown up men will find kids as little as a year old or even babies sexually appealing. Whenever I hear news of such, it makes me sick to my stomach.
Some of these kids never recover from the trauma, die from it or the act have effect an their health. It is just sad these little girls that you men are to protect, they rather do not feel safe around you. Around men they call father, uncles, brothers, guardians.
What even bothers me more when I hear of a case of defilement is when the culprit do not receive the necessary punishments they deserve. Some of us, if they put us on the seat of a judge we will do terrible things to these men, seriously. Sometimes we even feel like imprisoning them is not enough.
But can you imagine that sometimes these men commit this atrocity and they are left to go scot-free? Like the recent Assin Fosu case which has thrown Ghanaians into a state of anger.
A 4-year old girl was reported to have been defiled by a community member in Assin Adadientem in the Central Region, but the accused was pronounced innocent by the gods of the community. Can you imagine?
The accused is said was reported to have committed this barbaric act to the little girl in a public toilet after he sent the eight-year-old elder sister of the child on an errand so he will be left alone with the little girl.
But when the mother of the child later discovered what has been done to her and reported the incident to the chief of the area in hope of finding some justice for her little girl, it was then that the chief is said to have consulted the deity, which pronounced the accused, innocent.
The little girl has since been suffering from severe pain since the incident, and it is 'taking a toll on her health', whiles this man who placed her in that situation walks freely, eats, sleeps, and even gets the nerve to probably laugh.
What annoys me more on this report is that, defilement is said to be very rampant in that Assin Fosu municipality and whenever it happens, the chiefs sit and settle it without going to the police station, and the accused do not face any serious punishment.
Kids as little as a seven-month-old baby has been defiled in that community including about five other young ones just this year (and we still have two more months to go so how many more before the years ends?)
Like, what the hell do these men see in these kids? I never really understand their reason for such an insane act. If you blame women who get raped for provocative dressing, then what do these little children and babies do to ignite your sexual appeal? It is disgusting!! But they will blame it on the devil or claim mental illness. Suck that!!
These so-called chiefs in Assin Fosu need punishments themselves. How can such barbaric acts be done to these kids and you just sit and do nothing about it? Or perhaps they are perverts themselves and possible suspects?
But if we cannot protect these little ones and fight for them who will? If we do not give these future leaders a better life, what future are we creating for ourselves? The girl-child is always in danger but most often than not, little or nothing is done to protect them.
But no! This time, we are all up on our toes and ready to fight and protect them. Let us all keep calling on the president, ministers and all other girl-child advocates to help get justice for this little girl and all the others, and help fight against defilement in the country as whole.
Together, we can!!
