"Ahh!!! thank God you are home. We have been worried sick about you with the way the rain is pouring", Serwaa's mother said, the moment she rushed inside. "How did you get home, and you are not even a little bit wet? Did you pick a taxi all the way from your work place?  She questioned. So Serwaa told her mom she met a school mate who gave her a ride home.  Well since it was through the school mate she got the ride home, I think technically she can say he gave her a ride right? Serwaa is a 27 year old worker on the weekdays and a student on the weekends. And though she would really want to live on her own, she  is not. She lives with her parents and her elder sister Barbs, who is 29.  Their parents still have the old believe that it is rather right for a man to go looking for a woman they want for a relationship from their parent's home. They believe men do not take girls living on their own serious, so for them, any man who would want a serious re

Do You Know The Origin Of "Our" African Print? This Information About It Might Surprise You

Image
African print/Ankara is something everyone has come to accept and embrace as that unique African fashion but did it really originate from West Africa as have come to believe or we are just unknowingly claiming?  My fashion blogger friend, Afra (_afradaily), on one of her researches decided to research into the origin of "our" African print and what she discovered was not what we all thought. I found what she shared very informative so I also thought it was worth sharing. She wrote;  "ARE WE JUST CLAIMING? My recent research was focused on the origin of "our" indigenous African print and I was dumbfounded when I found out that ,it's not even from West Africa as we thought😳 The story actually began on Indonesian lands where locals used the technique of wax-resist dyeing to make clothing with very bold ,repeating motifs as we see in our Ankara/African print  How did it even get to Africa? So these Indonesians employed a group of African

New Music Video: Eshun ft Cabum - Simple As ABC

Image
Quophimens Musiq Signed Artiste, eShun 'with the magical voice' as her call her, presents the official Music Video for her latest song, ‘Simple As ABC’, which features rapper Cabum. and was  directed by Eddie Kay Mensah. 'The perfect love story' – The son of a legend, Cabum da Chedeshi and Africa’s Next Biggest Legend in the making, eShun stir up all kinds of emotions as they say those sweet three words “I love you” in public and don’t even care who’s listening! The rythym is embedded with a blend of urban substance and indigenous culture, with clarity in diction and message. The song composed by Senyo and eShun in English interspersed with few lines of Ga and Ewe, with Cabum hitting the perfect rap verse to complement the song in Twi. I most definitely love the song but the video is something to hook on to as well.  Es hun and her management will love to hear your response on the video so it can inform their next, so be sure to leave your thoughts. Personal Experiences: The Most Annoying Moment I Have Ever Faced, Being A Petite

Image
Sometimes being a petite can be very annoying especially with the way people even address you. Someone can go like, 'are you old enough'?, you are too short for this or that or "you are so cute I can bag you". All these height shaming and reactions from people can sometimes make you hate yourself and even God for not giving you height. I have been made fun of most times either from friends, family or even strangers, but there is this particular one that I consider the most annoying of all and I can never forget. It was somewhere 2015 when I was attending a program at Bedouin Lounge inside Lizzy Sports Complex, with other colleagues. But because I did not get the ticket on time they had to enter the premises before me. So I got to the venue, waited for my ticket and few hours they brought it to me. I got to the gate, showed my ticket to the bouncer, and instead of him allowing me to enter he went like "you are under age" (I am actually laughing as

Short Stories: Love At First S**x (Part 1)

Serwaa was in a hurry to get home because it was very cloudy, as if the sky was coming down. It looked like if it started raining, it wasn't going to stop soon and she hates rain because it makes her sick. So she rushed to the bus station to catch a cab but there was no car in sight. She made an attempt to order Uber but she realized the networks were down. "Damn if I knew it was this cloudy, I would have ordered the uber earlier with the office's WiFi. Now these networks are down and I can't even make a phone call to my sis to come pick me up" she thought to herself. Whiles she was standing at the station angry and thinking to herself, the wind got stronger so she tried to cover her face with her handkerchief to prevent the heavy winds from blowing dust into her eyes. And then a car pulled over. "Hey Serwaa is that you? A voice which seem to be coming from the car that just stopped infront of her asked. So she took the handkerchief  from her

I Am So Glad To Finally Start Blogging Again + Why I Took A Break And The New Blog Name

Image
Yhes!! I am as excited to be back as I get when I see food Lol. I am glad to be finally back to personal blogging, after going on a break for almost a year. Yaaayyy!!! This might be my first post on this new blog site but it is definitely not my first blog post ever. If you were following my posts from before, you will notice I am actually blogging under a new name and on a fresh start. I was initially blogging on Newsfillagh.blogspot.com but somewhere last year I stopped posting due to some reasons. The blog developed some issues that needed to be sorted before I could post more stuff, and I also had to take up a job which took almost all my time and mostly I was feeling lazy. Lol. But the issue with the blog seems to be taking forever to get fixed and I missed doing my own thing. So I decided I might as well just start on a new blog. After all creating a new blog never breaks a bone. But for the name change, I wanted to add more personal write ups to my posts
